Boutique Toddler Halloween Costumes

Obviously Halloween is a great time to buy costumes, but keep in mind that kids love to play dress up and costumes can be worn all year round. Make sure you buy it large enough for them to enjoy for a while. When you select a costume take in to consideration what the temperature is like in your area. A heavy plush outfit is great for colder climates, but in more tropical areas it would be hot to wear. There are lots of children that don't like anything on their head or face. If this is true with your child you wouldn't want to buy a costume with a hat, wig or mask.

What kind of toddler Halloween costume do you want?

Dora And Diego Costumes

1. Traditional costumes can be lots of fun, but there are children that are afraid of the scary ones. You can have a cute toddler Halloween costume of a devil or vampire without it being frightening. Even witches, ghosts and bats can be quite adorable.

2. Professional costumes are great for toddler boys and girls that want to be just like Mom or Dad. There are a wide variety of military uniform, doctor and nurse costumes, police and firemen uniforms or how about a rock star?

3. Superhero costumes are always a favorite for both boys and girls. While Superman, Spiderman, Batman, Captain America, The Hulk and Flash have always been popular for toddler boy Halloween costumes, Toddler girl Halloween costumes have included Supergirl, Spider girl, Batgirl and Wonder Woman.

4. TV & Movie costumes are always a hit. Let's face it toddler love to watch TV. They will watch the same thing over and over again. What is your toddlers' favorite? Would they pick Big Bird, Dora or Diego, Blues Clues, Wow Wow Wubbzy, a Care Bear, a Disney Princess, or maybe a Star Wars character?

5. Animals and Insects costumes are endless. To name a few you can choose from dogs & cats, ducks, dinosaurs, dragons, frogs, monkeys, tigers and kangaroos. If your toddler would like to be a bug, bees and lady bugs win 1st place.

There are lots of boutique toddler Halloween costumes to choose from. Usually by this age your toddler may want to decide what they want to wear. You may want them to look at a bunch of costumes and let them choose. If this is overwhelming for them you may want to pick three or four that you know you toddler would like and then let them decide.

Of course all Boutique Toddler Halloween costumes could never be named here. Hopefully this will give you an idea of what is available.

The Appeal of Dora the Explorer

To be honest, most children's television shows are off the air before long. Oftentimes, a show is started to catch in on a fleeting craze, or else the appeal of the concept just isn't that timeless. Once in awhile, though, we get a show like Sesame Street, The Wiggles (perhaps one of the most popular franchises in Australian toys and television), or Howdy Doody, which winds up hitting upon just the right idea at just the right time, and becoming not just a flash in the pan half hour of daily entertainment, but an integral element of the cultural landscape.

As anyone with a daughter, granddaughter, little sister, or niece knows by now, Dora the Explorer is probably going to be one of those shows. Having first aired in 1999, the show has run for nearly a decade by now, and doesn't seem to be going anywhere anytime soon. In 2004 alone, the franchise made billion in revenue from television and toys.

Dora And Diego Costumes

The appeal that Dora the Explorer has for children, and especially young girls, is quite simple. If you want princesses or Beverly Hills party girls, you can take your pick from any number of dolls and TV shows. The glamorous hair and makeup gals are, quite honestly, a dime a dozen. Dora the Explorer has found a tragically unexplored niche in the fact that there really just isn't much out there for young girls who want some action and adventure in their lives.

Most adventure toys and shows are marketed at boys, but if you think about it, that's kind of silly. Girls love Indiana Jones just as much as boys do. In fact, when the boys toys sword and sorcerer cartoon series He Man and the Masters of the Universe aired, it quickly developed a huge following of young girls, simply because there was so little available for adventuresome girls at the time, and He Man offered plenty of female action heroes to root for.

For some adults, Dora the Explorer brings to mind memories of exploring the parks and forests around our childhood homes. We would turn a stick and an old shoelace into a bow and arrow, imagining ourselves as Errol Flynn or Harrison Ford. As children, we want to explore and imagine ourselves as heroes on some incredible journey. For girls, there is very little on television and in toys to encourage this, and Dora the Explorer is not only a great idea, it's long overdue.

What's more, Dora the Explorer has a well developed cast of wonderful characters, and that's important for any long running children's show. Dora herself is fearless and capable, the excellent adventure hero, while her sidekick, Boots the monkey, is funny and helpful. Swiper, the masked fox who gets his kicks by "swiping" people's treasured keepsakes is generally pretty harmless, providing just enough of a threat to keep kids on the edge of their seats, but not quite enough of a threat to be scary. Displaying Dora's heroic character further, she's generally optimistic and kind to all of the other characters, even to the point that she does not hold a grudge against Swiper. Such values are often missing in children's entertainment.

It's interesting to note that, while Dora the Explorer is typically aimed at a female audience, there are plenty of boys who love the show as well (not that they'd ever admit it to their friends), prompting the producers to launch the spin-off, Go Diego Go, about Dora's equally adventuresome cousin, Diego, allowing boys to join in the adventure without having to admit that they like a girls show.

Dora Mania is Here

Are you a cartoon fanatic? If you are, then most probably you know this young Hispanic girl who loves getting herself into exciting adventures. Well, who wouldn’t know this girl named Dora Marquez? Every little kid knows her as the lead character in Dora the Explorer cartoon show featured on the Nickelodeon channel.

This cartoon show is intended for young viewers and no doubt these youngsters enjoy every moment watching it. It is an educational show that helps the viewers learn how to speak even simple Spanish words since the lead character speaks both English and Spanish. If your children are addicted to this show then more likely they’ll beat you in speaking Spanish. You will be amazed on how great these young people are in composing their own sentences in Spanish just by watching the show. You better be one of these Dora fanatics soon if you don’t want to be left behind.

Dora And Diego Costumes

Shows like this are the ones that young people should watch instead of those that showcase war and cruelty. Parents should support shows like this for their children, not just fun and entertainment but for educational as well.

Like any other cartoon show, Dora the Explorer features a lot of characters, not leaving Dora alone in her adventures. One of these characters is Boots, the little girl’s best friend who is always with her on every adventure that she’s into. He is a talking monkey who got his name from the red boots that he wears all the time.

In each episode, Swiper, a tricky masked fox tries to take an item from Dora or Boots. Dora and her friends should recover the stolen item for the successful completion of the day’s quest. The recovery of the stolen item is sometimes the quest in itself so they really have to get the item back to finish the quest.

There’s one way that the best friends can prevent the evil fox from stealing something from them, which is to repeat the phrase “Swiper, No Swiping!” three times. If they fail to do so Swiper will succeed in stealing an item from them and tell them that they are late while throwing the item far away.

Other characters include Dora’s parents whom she calls Papi and Mami and her grandmother. There is also Dora’s cousin Diego who rescues animals that are at risk and who also accompany her during her quests. Bilingual animals and some talking items complete the list of characters of the show.

Dora would often encourage the viewers to participate in her quest, sometimes by asking them if they have seen the evil fox or ask them to count along with her. This is what makes the show really great for children, not just about speaking Spanish is learned but it also allows the little ones to know some fundamentals of mathematics like counting and be familiar with the various kinds of music.

In 2000, the Dora the Explorer became a regular show on Nickelodeon and is still being produced there at the present. The show is aired around the world and has been translated to a lot of languages already including Spanish, Japanese, French, German, Dutch and many others. The Dora mania is really spreading all over the globe today so you better check it out now, don’t be left behind!

Plan a Great Birthday Party With Dora the Explorer

Dora the Explorer Birthday Party Ideas

With Dora the Explorer's famous cast of characters, your child will just love a Dora the Explorer birthday party theme.  A Dora the Explorer birthday party just screams for a scavenger hunt activity complete with Map taking center stage (after your birthday girl of course!).  Make sure to invite all of her friends, like Boots, Benny, Tico, Glowy Star, Rocket Star, Diego, Swiper the fox, Fiesta Trio, Grumpy old troll, The Map, and  the Backpack to this exciting, fun filled birthday party.

Dora And Diego Costumes

Because of Dora the Explorer's popularity, birthday party supplies for Dora  are easy to find so throwing a great party couldn't be easier with all of the great Dora birthday supplies to pick from.  It's easy to set the mood with the Dora Giant Decorating Set which includes: 2 Room Rolls (each 4' high x 12' wide) and 4 Add-On Sheets (each 33.5" wide x 65" high). It will quickly and instantly transform any room into a Dora Explorer Adventure.  If you want to decorate additional rooms, make sure to order another Dora Explorer Wall Decoration to complete the scene.

Once the stage has been created, consider ordering a Dora Explorer Party Pack - you really do save money and time by ordering as a set rather than individually.  The savings can really be significant!

Do you really want to put a huge smile on the party girl's face?  You can order her a Dora Explorer Costume. She can really get in the party mood and play Dora for the Day.  And best yet, she'll love wearing it for dress up play and Halloween too - so it's money well spent.

With the table decorations and scenery set all you need to do is to order some extra Mylar balloons, a cake topper, some favors, banner, and invitations.  So let's go, or better yet - Vamonos !

Go Diego Go - Games and Toys For Christmas

If you are wondering what to buy your preschooler for Christmas, you may want to take a look at some of the great "Dora the Explorer" and "Go, Diego, Go" toys and games that are on sale. Chances are, if you are buying something this Christmas for a preschooler, that they would be enthusiastic about Diego or Dora, and would love to play with something that revolves around these themes.

Of course, the first thing that comes to mind is the vast array of "Dora the Explorer" and "Go, Diego, Go!" DVDs that are on sale. New, most of these retail for well under and they normally include either four episodes, or one double feature plus two other episodes of the Diego or Dora TV shows. They really are a hit, and knowing how much pre-schoolers tend to love repetition, they really don't get tired of watching these shows over and over again.

Dora And Diego Costumes

Or, if you are looking for something different, you could check out the themed Fisher Price toys, such as "Go Diego Go Dinosaur Rescue Mountain" or the "Talking Rescue Center". There are a lot of really good Fisher Price themed toys to choose from and from my experience kids even as old as four or five will play with them for hours, especially if they're playing along with someone else. While they are a bit more expensive than some other toys, they really do give you value for money and the fact that they're well made and thus long lasting means that they can be kept and even handed down to other children.

A cheaper game that some kids enjoy, that could be considered somewhat educational as well, is the Go, Diego Go 123 Game. This particular board game can be played by up to four players at a time, which does add to the enjoyment. You receive ten different boards where the animals are depicted according to their particular characteristics. Children then pull an animal out of a bag, and match it with one of the animals on either their card, or one of the other cards. The winner is the child whose card is filled first. Most three and four year olds are happy to play the game, but for older children it does tend to be a little boring for them. Good for teaching animal basics and counting numbers.

More Diego related things you may be interested in, especially with Christmas coming up, are Go Diego Go costumes and other related items, such as backpacks, etc. Or, if your child is just starting to learn to read by themselves, they may like to read the Leapfrog tag readers! There's also a very good Play-Doh Diego play-set which kids will spend hours playing with, from experience. For very young children who love Diego, there are also cute Diego bath toys too.

Dora the Explorer to Dora Links Fashion Doll - Our Little Explorer Grows Up

Dora the Explorer grows up and is getting a "new look" in the soon to be released Dora Links Fashion Doll. Can we still call her Explorer? You all know Diego's cousin...she is a young explorer full of spark and energy and she loves a good adventure. She is a kind, exciting, bilingual preschooler. She enjoys adventures and shares them with her friends, Boots Back Pack and sometimes her cousin Diego, the star of Go Diego Go. We have all enjoyed her show for years on Nick.

Wait...that describes the Old Dora...the one we knew and loved. As her audience ages, her parent company wants to keep up with her fans as they grow by making her older too! As with all of us, time has passed and our sweet little explorer has grown up...The Explorer is now a tween and we will see her new look this fall when Nickelodeon and Mattel introduce us to her new line and virtual world. Living in the city and going to middle school, it seems our explorer has grown into a Diva Girl...who likes to do tweenaged things like shop, wear jewelry and she is now into fashion. There's even going to be a virtual Dora Links web world where we can hang out...just like with Webkinz, Neopets, Littlest Pet Shop Pets and the other very popular virtual world toys we have become familiar with. I guess this Virtual Shopping Explorer will have secret codes, code cheats, games and possibly some favorite tween secret recipes too!

Dora And Diego Costumes

There is no mention of Dora's friends...You know the gang...Boots the Monkey...Swiper the Fox...Fiesta Trio...Backpack and Map...Isa...Tico and Benny the Bull. Since most of these characters are not city animals...it makes me think they won't be included in this new world, but since it's virtual, there might be a park in it for them. And I don't know that Backpack and Map won't be traded for Purse, Cel Phone and GPS! I'm just guessing of course, but it does make sense.

It makes us all wonder what the new grown up Links Fashion Doll will be like...will she be the same adventurous soul we knew and loved as a child? Of course, we certainly all hope we can recognize the old Spirit in this new grown up form. It's not likely that such a spirited soul could totally disappear into a shrieking, shopping Teen Princess...is it? Nick and Mattel tell us that Tween Dora will still solve mysteries, let's hope it's not where to find the shiniest glitter eye shadow or the most exciting goth halloween costume!

With your new Dora Links Fashion Doll you can hook her up to your computer, and when you change her look virtually, you change your doll's look in the real world too. How do they do that? This Magical world can change her hair, eyes...and more. When you visit this "Virtual World" it will be a Webkinz World kind of experience for tween girls. Girls will be able to explore, earn virtual money and be challenged by mysteries which will be introduced to you online. There is even an alert you will receive to notify you when a new mystery has been released. The company is marketing this new Dora at girls aged 5 and up...and it will probably retail at 59.00 each...will this doll pass our initial inspection? Most likely, her virtual world sounds really cool, and I imagine this older explorer doll will have quite a Webkinz like following among the soon to be Tweenaged girls. Bottom line, unless some information sneaks out, we will all have to wait for the release of this new Tween Dora Links Fashion Doll. We all will just have to wait and see if we like the new version of our favorite Explorer as much as we like the younger version we all are used to.

Birthday Party Ideas For Kids Make Hosting a Kids Party Fun and Easy!

There are so many great birthday party ideas for kids! You and your birthday child can have lots of fun just deciding on which theme to use!

Popular Birthday party ideas for kids include: Bowling, Victorian Tea Parties, Princess, Dinosaur, Cowboy, Pirate...the list of kids party themes goes on and on. You can use any number of popular cartoon characters from your child's favorite TV shows or from kids movies like: Sesame Street, Ben 10, Dora, Diego, Hannah Montana, Bolt and Transformers are just a few of the hundreds of kids party themes you can come up with.

Dora And Diego Costumes

What do you need for a kids birthday party? Younger kids don't need a lot of decorations. It can be over stimulating for them. Use a few basic party decorations and supplies. Plan a fun game or two. Make the games easy and fun. Pin the tail on, Musical chairs and freeze dance are all good ideas. Make sure you give a party prize to each child, this way there are no losers! Parties are fun so make sure each child feels special!

Kids birthday cakes are special, so make sure yours fits the party theme you have decided on. This does not have to be an expensive feat...you can make a party cake yourself and decorate it. It's easy when you buy a party cake topper. You can bake and frost your cake and put the cake topper right on top! Cake toppers come in most party theme ideas. Another popular party cake topper is an edible cake image. That's a picture that has been printed onto an edible wafer or frosting. You can personalize this by sending a picture of your child to a company who makes these edible images. Imagine the look on your child's face when they see their own picture on top of the special birthday cake you have made for them! Imagine everyone's surprise when you tell them you made the cake yourself!

Birthday party ideas for kids need a little party gift. Whether it's a game prize or a goodie bag, try to supply a small gift for each child. Free coloring pages are an inexpensive way to fill this need. You can also find stickers or temporary tattoos to give as a gift.

Make your birthday ideas for kids fun, but keep your party short. Young kids don't need a party that goes on for hours. They tire easily, even though it seems as though their energy levels never wear down.

7 Popular Character Costumes For Boys This Halloween

When it comes to boys, there are some standard costumes that you will see year after year at Halloween time. With many of them, they wear the costume year round in creative play. Some of them are not the best color-wise for use at dusk, so make sure you add reflective tape at the wrists, at the ankles and around the waist when possible.

Batman - This popular super-hero makes an appearance every year. No matter how old this franchise is, young boys still find the character appealing. Comic books and movies starring Batman are still being created, and several cartoon variations are in syndication.

Dora And Diego Costumes

Superman - Another old super-hero that I see at least a half dozen of each Halloween. With the new movie in theaters this past Summer, I'm sure a whole new generation of youngsters were introduced to the "Man Of Steel".

Army Man - With the war in Iraq still sending troops overseas, many young boys are seeing news clips with men in fatigues. The past couple of years I have seen a big jump in boys dressing as soldiers at Halloween time.

Sponge Bob SquarePants - This cartoon character from Nick has made a big impact on boys of various ages. He is silly and not too smart, but he makes a great costume on Halloween.

Mickey Mouse - With the reintroduction of the new "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse" on the Disney Channel, Mickey is sure to make a big comeback.

Diego - This will be an easy costume, though only popular in warmer climates. Diego is Dora the Explorer's cousin and has branched out into his very own show. With outdoor boots, shorts and a cool red rescue pack, I believe this will be a costume I see much more this year.

Power Ranger - Although the show is geared more toward much older children, Power Rangers are popular with kids of all ages. Every year, I am absolutely amazed at how many Blue, Red and Green Rangers still knock on my door.

My best advice when costuming your child at Halloween is let them choose what they want. Don't make big plans and create a costume, only to turn around and see they want to buy something "cool" from the store. They are not going to have fun in a costume you force them to wear, which will ultimately ruin your night, too.
